An American Icon...our nations Wild Horses

5 weeks without my kiddos...what should I do?

Go camping and capture images of Wild Horses in all their glory?  YES!

Something I have wanted to do for a very long time...I wasn't sure where I would end up or how successful I would be, but I just had to try.  Now, I am hooked and can't wait to get back there, to the Yakima Reservation and see if I can find some of the same bands I was lucky enough to spend time with.

I want you to know, that these horses are in danger though...danger of starvation, danger of round-ups, danger of slaughter...because the situation is out of control.  There are too many in this particular area I am told, and there is a struggle to manage the many different herds. The more I learn, the more passionate I become to make a little difference.

For now, enjoy these images that, to me, represent the ultimate freedom...

This stallion had his eye on me the whole time...the protector for sure...
